Monza - Italian Grand Prix
Autodromo Nazionale Monza
The Italian Grand Prix (Gran Premio d'Italia) is one of the longest running events on the Formula One calendar. The Italian Grand Prix was also one of the inaugural Formula One championship races in 1950, and has been held every year since then.
I had always wanted to go to 'The Temple of speed'. Every Race I had been to Schumacher had won in a Ferrari, that suited me as a fan of both. So I thought go and watch them at their home race. Seventh and Eighth !
It's true what they say about the hardcore 'Tifosi' a lot spat their dummies out when they knew a red car wasn't going to win and left well before the end. A great race none the less. I had a grandstand seat for the race. My eyes literally oscillated in my head as all the cars got ready for the start. What a sound bouncing around, cars flying past at well over 200mph.
I'll never forget seeing an old woman going into the grandstand before me carrying a Chiwawa, before Paris Hilton made it fashionable, I wonder if it survived to see lap 2. If you are an F1 one fan it's got to be done, access to the old banked circuit is easy. Unbelievable how steep it is. Oh and the secret to getting into the pit lane without a pass is to faff about pretending to find it. It's a bottleneck and so busy the stewards tend to just wave you through.
Little 'ol' me in the finishing straight after the race.
